Canusa Hershman Recycling
Company, a preeminent trader of recovered paper and other recyclable
commodities, announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to
acquire the recovered paper trading business of Mehali Inc. Mehali is one of the leading suppliers of
recovered paper from the United States to India and the acquisition will
significantly increase Canusa Hershman’s export capacity and make it a top
exporter to India.
Commenting on the transaction, Canusa Hershman CEO, Ethan
Hershman, stated “The addition of Mehali boosts our ability to grow and succeed
in India by bringing their dominant market position and expertise together with
our global footprint, capabilities, and network. The market development in
India is similar to some of the market dynamics we experienced in China where
we’ve enjoyed more than 20 years of success with our partners at Newport CH International.”
The acquisition creates a combined operations team in the US
and India that will serve as a platform for future export growth. John Daniel, Managing Director at Canusa
Hershman, will oversee the integration of Mehali into Canusa Hershman. “Firoz
Nathani and the Mehali team have built an amazing company with great service
and operational efficiency. In our
surveys of customers and suppliers, we have discovered that Mehali has
consistently been rated as the best-in-class in service to the suppliers and
customers”, said Mr. Daniel.
“We are pleased to welcome Mehali to the Canusa family and
very excited about the growth opportunities this acquisition creates,”
concluded Mr. Hershman. Mehali, founded
and managed by Firoz Nathani since 2003, boasts strong operational and
technical leadership, a best-in-class reputation for logistics and
communication, and high brand awareness among suppliers and customers. The
transaction will enable Canusa to establish a clear leadership position in the
recovered paper business in India.
“The combined companies will employ 70 people and ship
100,000 tons per month around the world.
I believe because of this synergy and efficiencies; the Customers in
India will benefit, and it will be a win-win for everyone involved.” said Mr.
Firoz Nathani. Mehali’s team,
including Mr. Firoz Nathani, will now work as part of the
Canusa Hershman team. Firoz Nathani will remain as a partner with Canusa for
the next 20 years.
